I have to say that the Louvre is the most impressive thing that I have seen in a long time. Even as a scientist who does not normally pay that much attention to art I knew it would be special but I had no real idea how much. Initially I thought that we would spend 3 or 4 hours there and I would cross it off my list of places to visit and then move on. However, we spent almost the entire day there and I firmly intend to return whenever I can and plan to stay much longer.

The small portion of it that we saw was absolutely incredible. I was surprised at how deeply moved I was emotionally by a number of the paintings I viewed. Truly a wonderful experience.
